On behalf of the Director Forum of State Polytechnics Indonesia (FDPNI), it is my great pleasure to invite you to participate in the Indonesia Vocational Summit (INVOS), which will be held in Jakarta.
Indonesia's vocational education is entering a new phase of transformation toward applied universities and sustainable employment. Polytechnics are expanding their mandate through Applied Bachelor and Applied Master's programs to strengthen applied research, industrial innovation, and the national link-and-match agenda in line with Indonesia Emas 2045.
At the same time, the national commitment to increase green workers by 2029 underscores the urgency for vocational institutions to realign curricula toward sustainability, green technology, and future-oriented competencies.
However, challenges remain. Data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS, February 2025) indicate that the open unemployment rate among D4-S3 graduates reached 6.23 percent, reflecting the need for stronger alignment between education outcomes and industry absorption.
Through collaborative initiatives, structured industry partnerships, and expanding international cooperation, Indonesia's vocational ecosystem is moving toward a more adaptive and globally connected future. INVOS is designed as a strategic platform for policymakers, polytechnic leaders, industry stakeholders, and global partners to exchange insights, strengthen collaboration, and accelerate vocational transformation.

Forum Direktur Pendidikan Tinggi Vokasi Negeri Indonesia (FDPNI) is a national forum that brings together the leaders of state vocational higher education institutions across Indonesia, including polytechnics and vocational colleges.
FDPNI serves as a strategic platform for collaboration, policy dialogue, and knowledge exchange aimed at strengthening the role of vocational education in supporting Indonesia's economic growth and industrial development. Representing vocational higher education institutions across the country, FDPNI plays a vital role in fostering stronger alignment between academia, industry, and government.
The forum actively promotes initiatives that enhance the quality, relevance, and global competitiveness of Indonesia's vocational education system, ensuring that graduates possess the practical skills and competencies required by modern industries. Through partnerships with industry leaders, international institutions, and policymakers, FDPNI works to accelerate innovation in vocational learning, applied research, and workforce development.
The forum also supports national efforts to build a highly skilled and industry-ready workforce that can contribute to Indonesia's long-term economic transformation. As part of its commitment to strengthening collaboration and advancing vocational excellence, FDPNI organizes platforms such as the Indonesia Vocational Summit (INVOS), bringing together policymakers, educators, industry leaders, and global partners to explore opportunities, share insights, and shape the future of vocational education in Indonesia.
Indonesia's vocational education sector is entering a new phase of transformation toward applied universities and sustainable employment, with polytechnics expanding programs to Applied Bachelor (S1 Terapan) and Applied Master's degrees.
This transformation supports Indonesia Emas 2045, focusing on strengthening human capital competitiveness and improving the link and match between education and industry needs.
Vocational institutions are expected to produce skilled, adaptive, and industry-ready graduates to meet the evolving demands of modern industries and technological innovation.
The Indonesian government targets a significant increase in green workforce by 2029, encouraging vocational institutions to integrate sustainability, green technology, and environmentally conscious skills into their curriculum.
Despite progress, structural challenges remain, including regulatory limitations on applied research and mismatch between graduate competencies and industry requirements.

Programs such as Sakubi Teknologi Indonesia aim to strengthen the connection between vocational education and industry (DUDI) through structured internships aligned with Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI).
The Sakubi program utilizes digital monitoring systems to ensure internships align with students' disciplines and industry needs.
Partnerships such as Indonesia-China cooperation in digital vocational education support faculty upskilling, applied research, and internationalization of vocational institutions.
Indonesia's participation in the UNESCO Entrepreneurship Education Network (EE-Net) 2024-2027 strengthens entrepreneurship education through best-practice exchanges and cross-country collaboration in the Asia-Pacific region.
Despite existing gaps in the TVET sector, vocational education presents strong opportunities to accelerate economic recovery, workforce development, and the Education 2030 Agenda.
